Automatic Joomla, WordPress, Drupal & Magento updates and more

All of our Cloud VPS & Extreme customers using Plesk Panel 11.5 can now benefit from a series of new and improved features for this leading hosting control panel including automatic updates and enhanced security.

New and improved

One-click apps are now automatically updated

We know that keeping your applications up-to-date is vital for the security of your server, so we’ve implemented the ability to enable automatic upgrades to the latest versions of hundreds of applications installed directly from your Plesk Panel.

This new functionality can be enabled for each individual application install, but we strongly recommend using this to ensure your server is securely using the latest versions of popular hosted applications like WordPress, Drupal, Joomla and Magento updates.

Automatic upgrades will make your life easier!

Secure your audit trail with multiple admin accounts

Sharing passwords is a risky business! Because these passwords are typically not changed when people leave the company, it widens the potential for unauthorised access and endangers the audit trail. You should always be able to tell specifically who logged into what and when, so you can check who made which change.

Plesk 11.5 brings the ability to add multiple admin accounts to your Plesk VPS, so it’s no longer necessary to share passwords. For security reasons, administrators cannot create/manage/delete other administrators or clear each other’s action logs (ensuring your audit trail is safe!).

Multiple database hosting with 1 user

You’ve waited for this feature for so long and now it’s finally available! With Plesk 11.5 control panel it’s now possible for a MySQL database user to access all databases on your cloud server, if you permit it.

Tip: We recommend restricting your database users to 1 database where possible to minimise the risk of an exposed password causing problems.

Simplified directories

We like to keep things simple so when your users login via FTP, FTP-SSL, SSH or Plesk File Manager they will now see only three simple directories:

  • httpdocs (for storing your website and applications)
  • logs (to download or view your log files)
  • error_docs (for customising your web server error pages, e.g. 404 file not found)

Additional directories can be added via your Plesk Panel when creating new websites.
