Save big with new Reserved Cloudlets
We’ve just added a new special type of cloudlet to our Jelastic Cloud: the Reserved Cloudlet.
Like normal, this is 128MB RAM and 200 MHz CPU, but you can pre-book this cloudlet to make it 100% yours. Any cloudlets that you reserve, you pay for – even if your resource usage is lower. However, because this helps us to plan capacity across the platform, we give you a sweet discount (saving up to a HUGE 55%).

We’ve also converted our standard cloudlets to Dynamic Cloudlets (they work just like before, but with a new name) and reduced their cost.
Combine Reserved Cloudlets with Dynamic Cloudlets to get the best of both worlds – the rock bottom pricing of our heavily discounted Reserved Cloudlets, and the on-demand automatic scaling courtesy of Dynamic Cloudlets.

We didn’t just stop at introducing Reserved Cloudlets and (changing the name of) Dynamic Cloudlets – we also decided you should pay less for them.
So not only can you (optionally) reserve cloudlets in advance for a saving, but we also reduced the Dynamic Cloudlet price to just 1p (previously 1.4p) – nearly a 30% saving right there!

To reward you as your usage increases we are pleased to announce automatic discounting for Dynamic Cloudlets with effect from today, with increasing discounts of up to 35%.
The way this works is very simple: the more Dynamic Cloudlets you use in your environment, the cheaper your pricing becomes:

Big savings with Reserved Cloudlets
We had requests from many customers to offer discounts if you commit to reserving a minimum number of cloudlets for your environment. For example, if you know your environment requires at least 3 cloudlets (384MB RAM & 600 MHz CPU) you can reserve these in advance at a discounted rate.

Pricing Example
You run an application which requires 3 cloudlets to run most of the time, but during your daily maintenance you require an extra boost in RAM and CPU (to 6 cloudlets total).
Your pricing yesterday before Reserved Cloudlets
3 cloudlets for 20 hours per day @ 1.4p/cloudlet/hour = 84p
6 cloudlets for 4 hours per day @ 1.4p/cloudlet/hour = 33.6p
= £1.18 per day (around £35 per month)

If you set your Reserved Cloudlets to 3, and pay for Dynamic Cloudlets only when you exceed 3 cloudlets:
